Naples Flooring Coverings was established in 1954 by Tommy Provenzano, an ex-professional boxer. Provenzano ran the business up until 1971, until it was acquired by Bob Tiffany.

Mr. Tiffany owned and operated Naples Floor Coverings with his two sons for 26 years. When it came time to sell, Mr. Tiffany wanted to make sure the customers were taken care of. He asked Tom Messner, whom he had known for years, if he would be interested in buying the successful flooring business.

Like Mr. Tiffany, whose father and grandfather had owned floor covering stores, Tom had also grown up in the flooring business. Tom's father owned and ran Messner Carpeting in Pittsford, N.Y. where Tom started off his carpet career.

Tom worked in the family business up until 1981 when he joined the sales staff of Gulistan Carpets. Seven years later, he became a sales representative for Karastan. During this time Tom received the Karastan President's Club Award- Highest Honors of Outstanding Individual Achievement.

It was 1997 when Tom bought the company from Mr. Tiffany and relocated to Naples with his wife Ann and three children. Today, Tom Messner is still running the business and targeting people interested in long-lasting high quality floor coverings for their home or business.
